ETF Portfolio Performance Update

September 27, 2026 by moneyischoices Leave a Comment

ETF Portfolio Updates

Wow, I’m very late posting the portfolio update for August. I almost considered skipping this month as there’s only a few days left of September but if I miss one month I’ll start to make it a habit. I’ve done these ETF updates for almost three years now and I have never missed a month, so I’m not going to start now!

ETF Dividend Income in August

It was the monthly paying stocks only in August so it was always going to be a low month but I am getting very close to the monthlies being above $200. Which means February, May, August and November next year should all start with a two or a three instead of the lonely one that they do now.

JPEQ paid out $87.84, HYLD sent out $4.96, QQQI gave me $77.23 (exactly the same as last month), and OVL‘s second dividend payment was $4.69, which is a total of $174.72 for the month of August.

This time last year the portfolio made $155.21 in dividends for the month of August which is a 12% increase YoY (year on year). I’m exactly $194.79 ahead for the total dividends paid in the 2026 calendar year compared to the same time in 2025. I was hoping to be much further ahead at this point in the year but at least I’m in front.

The rolling 6 month, monthly dividend payment was $191.45 last month. It has increased to $200.05. That’s an increase of about $9 per month which is in line with my goal of increasing the portfolio by $10 every month.

The ETF Dividend Portfolio for August

This month the ETF dividend portfolio has increased to $43,000 up from $42,679 in July which is an increase of about $321. New contributions were $724.32, which means that the portfolio would have decreased by roughly $403 if I didn’t add any new money.

I added 5 shares to JEPQ (listed as JPEQ in Australia), added $101.07 to HYLD, and bought $322.59 worth of OVL (US listed covered call ETF using the S&P500).

Just as a note, the ticker symbols ending in .AX are Australian listed ETFs and those without them are US listed ETFs. The US listed prices and average cost per share are in US dollars but everything else like market value and total dividend income are in Australian dollars.

Here’s what the ETF portfolio looked like at the end of July 2026… (I’m late posting and didn’t take a screen shot of the portfolio in August so I’m reposting July)
