I'm a little bit late posting this month as I haven't been feeling the best which is a great reminder of why dividends are so important. You may love your job, you might earn great money, and your health is hopefully excellent, but sometimes life just happens and you become ill or have an accident which prevents you from working. Then what? Dividends are a great safety net … [Read more...] about Dividend Portfolio Update for August
ETF Dividend Portfolio

The ETF Portfolio was started in September of 2023 with the goal of showing how easy it is to get started with investing and how quickly it can grow with time, patience, perseverance and relentlessness!
It started as a Vanguard portfolio of ETFs and index funds but has since expanded. I'll probably end up with 8 to 12 ETFs from providers like Vanguard, Betashares, JP Morgan, NEOS and iShares.
Each month I share the value of the ETF dividend portfolio and what shares were bought or sold. I don't think there'll be too many sell updates though as I plan to hold and add to these forever.
I will usually add between $500 and $1,000 to the ETF portfolio every month, plus I'll reinvest all dividends. I believe this is the minimum amount you have to invest if you ever want to be free. You should be adding much more if you want freedom within the next ten years. I'm also still adding a similar amount to my Australian stocks portfolio and my International stocks portfolio every month.
ETF Portfolio Goals
I need goals to work towards. You should try it too.
ETF GOAL ONE (DONE!!): $2000 per year in dividends (Set in November 2023)
2025: Goal One has been achieved in 2025 with a total of $2,040.09 worth of dividends paid out for the year! I'm very happy with the progress of the ETF portfolio.
2024: A total of $725.85 = 36% of $2,000 goal.
2023: I received $102.68 worth of dividends from ETFs which is about 5% of my goal achieved. So technically that's a fail but I've only just started.
ETF GOAL TWO: $2000 per month in dividends (Started in January 2026 after completing Goal 1)
2026: At the end of April the portfolio has made $808.93 so far this year and the 6 month monthly average is $182.86. Lots of work to do!
ETF GOAL THREE: $2000 per week in dividends
ETF GOAL FOUR: $2000 per day in dividends
ETF GOAL FIVE: Buy my own deserted island and rule over it with an iron fist! lol

The ETF Dividend Portfolio Hits $30,000
I started the ETF portfolio back in September of 2023 with the goal of sharing how easy it is to get started with stocks. Before starting the ETF portfolio I had only invested in individual stocks but I always intended to eventually get into exchange traded funds. I kept putting it off as I thought ETFs were a little boring. My opinion about ETFs being boring hasn't changed … [Read more...] about The ETF Dividend Portfolio Hits $30,000
ETF Dividend Portfolio Update for June 2025
Markets generally moved up and to the right in June and the ETF portfolio is now very close to reaching $30,000. I haven't decided how I will celebrate but I will treat myself as I think it's important to acknowledge our achievements. Every $10,000 increase in value is a big deal for the ETF portfolio as it is still pretty new. I would like to celebrate with a Porsche but … [Read more...] about ETF Dividend Portfolio Update for June 2025
ETF Dividend Portfolio Update for May
It was another eventful month with shares but things are generally moving up and to the right. The portfolio hit an all time high and the dividends in May 2025 beat the dividends from May 2024, so I can't ask for much more than that. Life is good. I'm not talking about politics anymore either as I had a few complaints last month and I don't like discussing grown up ideas … [Read more...] about ETF Dividend Portfolio Update for May
List of ETFs, REITs, Managed Funds and Stocks in my Portfolio
These are the stocks that I own or have recently sold in the ETF Dividend Portfolio. I'm just going to list them in order of value but will not include prices or how much I hold. See the monthly portfolio updates for the most recent amounts held. For now I just want to list the stocks and give a brief description of what it is and maybe why I hold it. A few people have asked … [Read more...] about List of ETFs, REITs, Managed Funds and Stocks in my Portfolio
ETF Dividend Portfolio Update in April 2025
The market has started to settle down a little after a few months of madness but all it takes to change that is another idiotic tweet. It really does feel like the lunatics have taken control of the asylum. There was a time when the lunatics were still in control but they at least tried to pretend that they were mentally stable and knew what they were doing. Now they just … [Read more...] about ETF Dividend Portfolio Update in April 2025
Dividends from the ETF Portfolio in March
Another bumpy month for stocks in March but we have made it through the $22,000 road block and the ETF portfolio now starts with a 23. No thanks to Mr. Market as it was done the hard way: Adding more cash!! The only thing I wish was different about this market correction was that I had a larger pile of cash on the sidelines and ready to deploy. I don't regret not having it … [Read more...] about Dividends from the ETF Portfolio in March
ETF Dividend Portfolio Update for February
Well, that was an interesting month in stocks. Anyone holding high flying growth stocks will be looking like they've just gotten off of a rollercoaster right now. My Australian stocks portfolio and my world stocks portfolio were both wacked as I hold stocks like Microsoft in the US and REA Group in Australia. The ETF portfolio was also hit but I didn't see swings of more … [Read more...] about ETF Dividend Portfolio Update for February
