Never Talk about your Investments with Committed Slaves

October 17, 2024 by moneyischoices 2 Comments

Something I learned early on in my investment journey was just how mental the average 'normal' person on the street is. Having discovered the wonders of dividend investing and how it can set you free I would naturally want to share this information with the people I love and those I care about. But after seeing the reactions from so many different people I came to a point … [Read more...] about Never Talk about your Investments with Committed Slaves

Imagine $2.2 BILLION in Dividends for the Year!

August 28, 2024 by moneyischoices 1 Comment

The Australian iron ore mining giant Fortescue (FMG) just recently published their full year results and announced a dividend payment of A$0.89 cents per share, bringing the total dividends paid for the year to A$1.97 cent per share. Andrew Forrest and his now ex-wife Nicola control about 36.7 percent of the Fortescue company. Which means that they'll be taking home roughly … [Read more...] about Imagine $2.2 BILLION in Dividends for the Year!

A Letter to my 20 Year Old Self

June 21, 2024 by moneyischoices Leave a Comment

I've just invented a time machine that is good for one letter to myself and I'm only allowed to talk about finances and general life. So obviously I cant just tell myself to buy Apple, Microsoft and Amazon as soon as they list as that would be cheating and my time machine wouldn't allow it. Any sort of insider information like the Internet bubble or the 2008-09 financial crisis … [Read more...] about A Letter to my 20 Year Old Self

I Buy One Share of Visa (V) Every Month

January 15, 2024 by moneyischoices 1 Comment

For the last 5 or 6 months I have been buying one share of the credit card company Visa (V) every month. I don't think about whether the stock is undervalued or too expensive, I just buy it and forget about it until next month. It's a habit I want to keep going until I reach at least $20,000 worth of Visa. I mentioned my Visa story here in a recent post and someone said it … [Read more...] about I Buy One Share of Visa (V) Every Month

The First $100,000 is the Hardest

January 13, 2024 by moneyischoices Leave a Comment

Billionaire investor Charlie Munger once said "The first $100,000 is a bitch, but you gotta do it. I don’t care what you have to do.. if it means walking everywhere and not eating anything that wasn’t purchased with a coupon, find a way to get your hands on $100,000. After that, you can ease off the gas a little bit." Unfortunately Mr. Munger won't be sharing anymore of his … [Read more...] about The First $100,000 is the Hardest

Free People Are Better People

December 8, 2023 by moneyischoices Leave a Comment

I'm sure they're out there but I have never met a free human being that planned for and worked hard to achieve their freedom who sits on the beach or plays computer games all day everyday. Some might do those things a whole lot more when they first free themselves from the slave system but that gets old pretty quickly. All of the free people I know of live much more meaningful … [Read more...] about Free People Are Better People

I Call Money “Units of Freedom”

August 10, 2023 by moneyischoices Leave a Comment

Most of my life I have had mixed feelings about money. Is money good? Is money bad? Do I deserve to have an excess of it? Are those who have money just greedy pigs? Does money make me a better or worse person? And on and on and on. The system has purposely designed it that way too. From the beginning the ruling class could see that money and wealth are actually choices, … [Read more...] about I Call Money “Units of Freedom”
