ETF Dividend Portfolio Update for May

May 31, 2025 by moneyischoices Leave a Comment

ETF Dividends in May 2025

It was another eventful month with shares but things are generally moving up and to the right. The portfolio hit an all time high and the dividends in May 2025 beat the dividends from May 2024, so I can’t ask for much more than that. Life is good.

I’m not talking about politics anymore either as I had a few complaints last month and I don’t like discussing grown up ideas with children. Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. I just thought it was so obvious that all politicians in western liberal democracies are anti-human. I’m wrong though as grown men and women are still supporting one retarded team or the other. Hello!

Anyways, the portfolio is back on track this month. I like to increase the value by about $1000 per month and we started the year at about $22,000. We’re now above $27,000 and $30,000 is looking very achievable from here.

ETF Dividend Payments in May

May was just the three monthly paying covered call ETFs so all I was hoping for was to break the $100 mark.

JPEQ paid out $50.99, FEPI finally had an up month with $35.25, and QQQI gave me $21.68, which is a total of $107.92 for the month of May. My next goal for the monthlies is $200+.

This time last year the portfolio made $13.90 in dividends for the month of May which is a 460% increase YoY (year on year). A few more 460% increases and I’ll be a zillionaire!

The rolling 6 month, monthly dividend payment was $133.30 last month. It has grown by $5.07 per month to $138.37. Any increase is a good increase but I also want to increase that $5 bump.

The ETF Dividend Portfolio for May

This month the ETF dividend portfolio has increased to $27,180 up from $23,598 in April which is an increase of about $3,582. New contributions were $2,282 which means that the market has helped out by about $1,300 this month! That’s a very welcome change to the previous few months where Mr. Market just wanted to go backwards.

I added 9 JPEQ shares this month as I wanted to get to 100 of the little beauties! I also added some VHY (Australian dividend focus), a few NDQ (Nasdaq 100) to get above $1,000 worth, three QQQI shares, four GEAR (leveraged Australian companies) shares to have 100 of them, and some ATEC (Australian tech companies).

Oh and I also added 19 SCHD at $25.94 each. Each time I buy SCHD shares they keep getting cheaper. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? We will see.

Just as a note, the ticker symbols ending in .AX are Australian listed ETFs and those without them are US listed ETFs. The US listed prices and average cost per share are in US dollars but everything else like market value and total dividend income are in Australian dollars.

Here’s what the ETF portfolio looked like at the end of May 2025…

What to Expect in June

I’ll be making sure that I have added to all of the quarterly paying ETFs that will be distributing dividends in July. I try to own more shares of each ETF with every new dividend payment. So far I haven’t added to the S&P500 ETF IVV and the all world ETF VGS.

FEPI increased their dividends for the first time in almost 6 months and the price has been slowly increasing, so I may hold onto it for at least another month. I’m still not ready to start buying it again though, so who knows, I may still sell it at some point.

JEPQ will be added to like I do every month and if I still have money to invest it will probably go into QQQI.

How has your freedom making machine been going this year? What’s your 6 month rolling monthly dividend average for your ETFs? (total dividends paid over the last 6 months, divided by 6 equals your average).
