ETF Dividend Portfolio

The ETF Portfolio was started in September of 2023 with the goal of showing how easy it is to get started with investing and how quickly it can grow with time, patience, perseverance and relentlessness!

It started as a Vanguard portfolio of ETFs and index funds but has since expanded. I'll probably end up with 8 to 12 ETFs from providers like Vanguard, Betashares, JP Morgan, NEOS and iShares.

Each month I share the value of the ETF dividend portfolio and what shares were bought or sold. I don't think there'll be too many sell updates though as I plan to hold and add to these forever.

I will usually add between $500 and $1,000 to the ETF portfolio every month, plus I'll reinvest all dividends. I believe this is the minimum amount you have to invest if you ever want to be free. You should be adding much more if you want freedom within the next ten years. I'm also still adding a similar amount to my Australian stocks portfolio and my International stocks portfolio every month.

ETF Portfolio Goals

I need goals to work towards. You should try it too.

ETF GOAL ONE: $2000 per year in dividends (Set in November 2023)
2025: After 5 months it is $738.74 which is about 36% of the $2,000 goal this year. Five months is 41% of twelve months so I'm a little behind schedule to reach my goal.
2024: A total of $725.85 = 36% of $2,000 goal.
2023: I received $102.68 worth of dividends from ETFs which is about 5% of my goal achieved. So technically that's a fail but I've only just started.

ETF GOAL TWO: $2000 per month in dividends
ETF GOAL THREE: $2000 per week in dividends
ETF GOAL FOUR: $2000 per day in dividends
ETF GOAL FIVE: Buy my own deserted island and rule over it with an iron fist! lol

October ETF Freedom Making Machine Update

October 31, 2024 by moneyischoices Leave a Comment

Dividends included the quarterly payers in October so it was going to be a good month but we didn't beat the high back in July which was $130.30. Still, it was the second month above $100 so I'm pretty happy with that. The ETFs made a total of $126.98 in October. I'm hoping to break the $150 mark in January 2025 when all of the ETFs distribute dividends. October 2023 was … [Read more...] about October ETF Freedom Making Machine Update

Exchange Traded Funds Dividend Portfolio Update: September 2024

October 3, 2024 by moneyischoices Leave a Comment

The ETF dividend portfolio has increased by more than $1,000 again this month and it's not because I'm an amazing stock picker, it's because I added $1,349 in new contributions! Getting started with investing in the stock market is hard work. It's very simple, there's nothing complicated about it, but it takes a lot of effort to get the snowball rolling down the hill by itself. … [Read more...] about Exchange Traded Funds Dividend Portfolio Update: September 2024

August ETF Dividends and Portfolio Update

September 2, 2024 by moneyischoices Leave a Comment

Markets worldwide started the month with some panic and a little craziness so I was just hoping to come out even if I added as much new money to the fund in August as I could. Thankfully the madness settled and markets regained most of the losses as the month went on. The portfolio finished up so all is well. If you're not one to check your portfolio everyday and you avoid … [Read more...] about August ETF Dividends and Portfolio Update

Six Month Moving Average Monthly Income from ETFs

August 15, 2024 by moneyischoices Leave a Comment

I know the ETF Income Portfolio has barely been in existence for 12 months but I'm going to start tracking my average monthly income from dividends paid. The only reason for me to invest in anything is to produce an income that will set me free from the slave system that was created by monsters and is continually improved and tinkered with today. If an investment doesn't … [Read more...] about Six Month Moving Average Monthly Income from ETFs

ETF Dividend Income Portfolio Update for July 2024

August 2, 2024 by moneyischoices Leave a Comment

I know that I add the portfolio total to the header and present it like it is the central focus (I have started including the dividends too this month) but the only reason for me investing in anything anywhere is the INCOME! Owning $50,000 worth of a particular stock doesn't make me happy, it's the income from that stock and the freedom that it creates. Dividends and passive … [Read more...] about ETF Dividend Income Portfolio Update for July 2024

June Update for the ETF Dividend Portfolio

July 1, 2024 by moneyischoices Leave a Comment

We've made it to the half way point of the year and the ETF portfolio is as high as it has ever been ($13,866) so all is well. Life is good. I'm really starting to enjoy this portfolio, much more than I thought I would. I don't talk much about my individual stocks but I basically have three portfolios: one for ETFs (this one), one for dividend paying Australian stocks, and … [Read more...] about June Update for the ETF Dividend Portfolio

ETF Dividend Portfolio Update for May 2024

June 3, 2024 by moneyischoices Leave a Comment

It was another challenging month for markets and I expected the portfolio to start with an eleven, just like it has for March and April but in the last few days of May I came good and did some buys to push the value into twelves, woohoo! ($12,688) It's hard work trying to increase this little snowball by $1,000+ per month but I know the rewards are worth the effort. I've … [Read more...] about ETF Dividend Portfolio Update for May 2024

April Update for the ETF Dividend Growth Portfolio

May 1, 2024 by moneyischoices Leave a Comment

April was a tricky month for markets worldwide. Investors didn't know whether they were coming or going so they probably did both as it was a very up and down thirty days. I improved the value of the ETF dividend portfolio by less than $100 but at least it wasn't a loss. Of course it would have been a loss if I hadn't added new money to the portfolio but that's a minor … [Read more...] about April Update for the ETF Dividend Growth Portfolio
