Dividend Payments

This is where I update all of the dividend payments made to me in the ETF Dividend Portfolio. It’s much too new to create a chart yet but as the payments start to build up I’ll create a chart and hopefully it will go UP and to the RIGHT! Always and forever!

I’ll start with the first and smallest payments to show how challenging it can be when starting out with stocks. Not because investing is difficult but because we’re impatient creatures that want everything yesterday!

I believe good investing is boring as it takes time, persistence and an ability to do NOTHING. Especially when others are running around with shiny new things like crypto and anything AI. All we have to do is keep buying, keep reinvesting, and let compounding do its thing. Simple. Kind of.

At the moment most of the ETFs that I hold pay quarterly dividends on January, April, July, and October. A couple pay twice in January and July. So I’m thinking about some monthly paying ETFs like JEPI, JEPQ and/or SPYI as I want more regular payments and I’m thinking about some covered call ETFs. But then I think I would be better off being patient and just owning the S&P 500 or NASDAQ and receive fewer dividends but more growth. Decisions decisions.

I sometimes think its easier to own individual companies than ETFs! I keep changing my mind with ETFs. With individual stocks I just hold until the business changes direction or stops growing. I’m all over the place with ETFs but I think once I settle on 5 or 10 ETFs I’ll stick with them for the very long term. I’m just not at that point yet though. Am I overcomplicating things?

You can click on each month to see the stocks that I’m holding at the time of the dividend payment or see the ETF Portfolio main page here.
